Green Belt — Seoi-nage and Combination Throws

Learn shoulder throw and how to chain throws using feints.

## Green Belt — Seoi-nage and Combination Throws

### Seoi-nage (Shoulder Throw)
One of judo's most spectacular and common throws.

1. Pull uke forward to break balance.
2. Step in, rotating 180° so your back is to uke.
3. Drop your hips below uke's centre of gravity.
4. Drive the elbow of your throwing arm across your own chest — uke's arm goes over your shoulder.
5. Straighten your legs and bow forward to complete the throw.

Drop Seoi-nage variant: instead of stepping in, drop to both knees as you rotate. Faster entry, harder on the knees long-term.

### Renraku-waza (Combination Techniques)
A feinted attack forces uke to resist in a predictable direction. Throw in that direction.

Example combination:
- Feint O-soto-gari to uke's right → uke leans left → apply O-uchi-gari to the left leg.

O-uchi-gari (Major Inner Reap)
1. Step between uke's legs.
2. Reap uke's inside leg backward with your inside leg.
3. Drive them to the mat.

### Randori (Free Practice)
At green belt, begin randori — free sparring. The goal is not to win but to practise throws in a resisting context. Tap to signal a hold-down.
