Yellow Belt — Kicks and Movement

Introduce front kick (mae-geri), side kick (yoko-geri), and footwork patterns.

## Yellow Belt — Kicks and Movement

The yellow belt represents the first rays of the sun — the student begins to see light in their training.

### Mae-geri (Front Kick)
1. Raise the knee high (chamber position).
2. Snap the foot forward, striking with the ball of the foot (koshi).
3. Retract the foot to chamber before placing it down.

Common errors: dropping the knee before extending, leaning the torso backward.

### Yoko-geri Keage (Snap Side Kick)
1. Lift the knee across the body.
2. Snap the foot outward, striking with the sword foot (sokuto).
3. Pull back sharply.

### Oi-zuki (Lunge Punch)
Step forward in zenkutsu-dachi and punch simultaneously. The punch lands as the front foot touches down — timing is critical.

### Basic Combination
Sanbon Kumite introduction
Partner A attacks three times (age-uke + gyaku-zuki block-and-counter). Partner B blocks and counters each time. Practice with control.

### Kihon Kata: Taikyoku Shodan
This first kata has 20 movements, using only zenkutsu-dachi, gedan-barai, and oi-zuki. Walk through each line slowly, counting the turns.
